This toolkit contains easy to use information and resources to help you write a successful grant application. Whether you are a first-time grant writer or a seasoned professional, you’ll find suggestions and tips to make the grant writing process easier, more efficient and more effective.

While every grant application or Request for Proposal (RFP) is different, our goal is to provide you with a good idea of what is typically included in both foundation and government (state and federal) grants. 

Each section of the toolkit has a variety of downloadable items. You will need access to Microsoft products in order to view: 

• Word documents from grants submitted by Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services that can be adapted for your use
• Videos and PowerPoint slides to guide you through sections of the grant
• PDF handouts
• Excel sheets to monitor grants applied for and received
