Disability Services for Students

Response to COVID-19

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Disability Services for Students (DSS) continues to have a firm commitment toward the safety of students, staff, and the constituencies we serve.

Our physical office at the Mountain Campus is open. However, in-person services are available on an appointment-only basis. To schedule appointments for in-person services, please call us at (406) 243-2243 in advance. Initial or ongoing meetings with coordinators will be conducted by phone or Zoom.

To minimize possible exposure to COVID-19, we have established the mitigation plan. Please bring your face covering to come to our office. If you are not feeling well, cancel the appointment or request a phone meeting.

Although the priority deadline was Friday, July 31, we still accept the remote attendance accommodation requests for Fall 2020. Read Qualifications, required documentation, and request process at Remote Attendance Accommodation.

Access Updates

Our Mission

We are committed to equal access and strive to ensure that the University of Montana, when viewed in its entirety, is readily accessible and usable by students with disabilities. Our vision is a level academic playing field for the students we serve. Through collaboration with faculty, staff, departments and other campuses, we ensure students receive appropriate accommodations, services, and assistance to fully access the campus programs and facilities.

What We Do

Disability Services for Students ensures that programs of the University of Montana are as accessible and usable by students with disabilities as they are for any student. We determine the student's eligibility for reasonable accommodations and coordinate accommodations for those who are registered with our office.

Who We Serve

Disability Services serves the University of Montana students with disabilities, who are registered with the office. We also collaborate with UM faculty, staff, departments, and other campus units to ensure that students with disabilities have equal and accessible educational opportunities at UM.

We use Accommodate

Once students register with Disability Services, they can utilize Accommodate, a web-based database and communication system, to access the letter of verification and their documentation, and much more.
