Field of Study
Rashail DeMinck is a policy researcher, environmental justice advocate, and graduate student. She is currently working on a Master of Science degree in Environmental Studies and a Certificate in Natural Resource Conflict Resolution at the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana. She focuses on environmental policy and justice, trying to understand how top-down governance affects different communities and finding ways to better support and create solutions. Her research has encompassed energy policy in the United States and how climate trends impact the influence of specific energy policies, such as uranium mining or nuclear. She is currently a research assistant for the Environmental Studies Program, looking at liquid natural gas facilities in the Gulf of Mexico and how each current and proposed facility impacts the environment, climate, and neighboring communities. Looking forward, she is interested in bridging collaborative practices and communications in the policy field to support marginalized communities better within the states and internationally.
