Affiliations

The Japanese Society of Snow and Ice, since 2013

Specialized Skills

ArcMap, QGIS, Matlab, Python and Leica Photogrammetry Suites (LPS)

Professional Experience

Job experience

Meiji Consultant Co., Ltd., Japan (2015 - 2016)

I was engaged in landslide survey and geological investigation to estimate the depth and longitudinal shape of a slip surface formed in a landslide slope and determine the position of the slip surface by observing cores made by boring a landslide slope.

Feild Activities

Bowdoin Glacier, Qaanaaq Ice Cap, Northwestern Greenland (Jun. 2014 – Aug. 2014)

Rhone Glacier, Switzerland (Sep. 2013)

International Experience

Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer Program, Environment Education in Bhutan (2017-2019)

I have provided technical guidance for GIS at the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research (UWICER). I have supported students from The School for Field Studies (SFS) with GIS. My activities in Bhutan were introduced by Kuensel (Bhutan National Newspaper) (https://kuenselonline.com/thorthormi-glacier-recedes-by-1-2kms-in-last-16-years/).

Honors / Awards

Excellent Thesis Award at the Japanese Society of Snow and Ice, Hokkaido branch (2015)

Hobbies

Marathon, Soccer, Climbing and Ski
