The Baldridge Book Subvention Fund Application Form

The Baldrige Book Subvention Fund supports publishing of scholarly books by faculty in the Humanities Departments (African-American Studies, English, History, Linguistics, World Languages and Cultures, Native American Studies, Philosophy and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies). The Fund may also support publishing of scholarly books by faculty in the Department of Economics. Preference will be given to books with a historical and/or economic perspective.

This fund is meant to support costs that an author may be obligated to pay to a publisher in order to accomplish production. Examples of such costs include photograph reproductions, translations, and indexing.

Preference is given to books written by:

  1. tenure-track and tenured faculty members
  2. first-time authors
  3. Emeritus faculty members
Please note that the publication of articles is not supported by the Balridge Book Subvention Fund.

Due Dates:

Applications are due February 1 and October 1 of each year. Please apply through the web form provided via the Humanities Institute website.

 

 

Procedure

Please complete the online application form below and attach the supporting document to the form when prompted.

Include the following information in your supporting document, including the 2-page proposal, as ONE file:

  1. A description of the book or article, not to exceed two pages. It should include
    1. an overview and summary of the project, including its scholarly contribution overall and to the humanities and
    2. the significance of the project in the applicants field and for the applicant's career.
  2. Statement
  3. Book contract cover page
  4. Documented list of subvention costs.

**Successful applicants will be asked to include an acknowledgement of the funding source in the book and will provide a copy of the book for presentation to the donor.
