DCLCP Project GO Chinese Program

The University of Montana offers:

  • Project GO Spring Program: Our spring program focuses on providing a gateway to the summer program for students who don’t currently have any language background.
  • Project GO Summer Program: Our summer program consists of a domestic and study abroad program, placing a high emphasis on fluency in the language and cultural understanding.

 

Fifteen-week Spring Semester Program (Online)

This 15-week language course will be delivered through online which students can connect from any location with an internet connection. The learning objective of the course is to help students gain mastery of the fundamentals of Chinese Mandarin including Pinyin (Chinese Mandarin pronunciation System), speaking, listening and reading. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to (1) take Elementary II Chinese Mandarin or an equivalent program; (2) speak Chinese Mandarin on a variety of topics with a basic level grammar and vocabulary; and (3) write a short paragraph on familiar topics in Chinese Mandarin. This course does not require any previous education or background knowledge in Chinese Mandarin language.

  • Period: January 18 to May 10, 2024
  • Course Level: Elementary I
  • Class Hours: 45 hours (3 hours/week, 2 days/week)
  • Focus: Basic linguistic competence and communicative skills of Chinese Mandarin language
  • Academic Credits: 2 credits from the University of Montana
  • Application Deadline: December 8, 2023 (click to apply for spring program)

 

We are offering a fully funded one-week domestic program and an nine-week study abroad program.

One-week Domestic Program – Prep Course at the University of Montana

Our one-week domestic course is a 25-hour course for learning culture and regional studies, and prepare for the study abroad session in Taiwan. It is designed for students who are preparing to travel to Taiwan. The in-class program will be offered at our Palmer Street Learning Center in beautiful Missoula, Montana.  

  • Period: May 20 to May 24, 2024
  • Course Level: Beginner I, Beginner II, Intermediate I, Intermediate II
  • Class Hours: 25 hours (5 hours a day)
  • Focus: Culture and Regional Studies, Pre-departure Preparation

Nine-week Study Abroad Program at National Taiwan University, Taipei 

Nine-week study abroad opportunity will be at National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan. National Taiwan University (NTU) is the best university in Taiwan with a global ranking of 113th (Times Higher Education, 2021).

This course offers professional language training and abundant cultural experiences. In addition, NTU also emphasizes real-life learning experience.

NTU offers field trips to Taipei and its surrounding attractions.

  • Period: May 25 to July 27, 2024
  • Class Hours: 225 hours (5 hours/day, 5 days/week)
  • Course Level: Beginner I, Beginner II, Intermediate I, Intermediate II
  • Focus: Conversational language, culture and regional studies
  • Academic Credits: 12 credits* from National Taiwan University

*Actual credits depend on how many credits your school registrar office is willing to accept.
