The Defense Critical Language & Culture Program at the University of Montana is proud to offer the Project Global Officer (GO) scholarship to eligible ROTC Cadets. Project GO is an initiative sponsored by the Defense Language and National Security Education Office (DLNSEO) and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE). It is a nationwide program providing a study abroad experience training in critical languages, exclusively on the languages of Middle East, Asia, Central Asia, and African countries for ROTC Cadets. Cadet Vladimer Kellachow III Iris Bulls Burton ROTC Fellowship Recipient

CDT Kellachow III received the Iris Burton Bulls ROTC Fellowship award after attending the 2022 Korean Project Global Officer program with University of Montana. He will have the opportunity to visit Washington, DC this summer to attend a national security seminar and talk to DoD senior leadership, Service Senior Language Authorities, and members of military language communities. The Project Global Officer program is a language and culture study abroad program for ROTC cadets/midshipmen from all services. We are very proud that one of our PGO alumni was selected for the award, and we hope more cadets/midshipmen will take advantage of this opportunity to become a future global officer.

The University of Montana offers:

• Spring Program (Online): ROTC students spend the semester learning the target language and culture of the region. The course will be delivered through video teleconference software: ZoomGov, allowing students to have face-to-face interaction with instructors while studying from their current location.
• Summer Program (Domestic/Abroad Combined): Our summer programs consist of a domestic and study abroad program, placing a high emphasis on fluency in the language and cultural understanding.

• Project GO - Korea Summer Program

What does the Project GO scholarships include?

• Tuition and academic fees
• Housing for domestic and study abroad session
• Meal allowance
• Travel expenses 
• Textbooks
• Visa application fees

Who is eligible for the Project GO scholarship program?

• U.S. Citizens
• Matriculated in an undergraduate degree program located within the United States accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
• Contracted or non-contracted AROTC, AFROTC, NROTC students on track to commission through ROTC from any university or college in the U.S. Participants do not need to be University of Montana ROTC students/cadets.
• Project GO scholarship recipients must be members of ROTC, remain matriculated in their undergraduate programs for the duration of the scholarship, and may not graduate until the scholarship is complete
• The applicant may not be employed, including unpaid internships, by the U.S. Federal Government or any foreign government while receiving Project GO funding
