- 2002 Sustainable Campus Committee created
- 2002 Tallories Declaration signed
- 2007 American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment signed
- 2008 Green House Gas Inventory completed
- 2009 UM required all new buildings to be LEED Silver Certified
- 2009 Energy Audits completed on 15 buildings
