Personal Summary

An Idaho native, Pam received her undergraduate theatre degree from University of Idaho (Moscow, ID) and quickly entered the professional sphere, earning her Actors' Equity Association membership as a professional actor/singer/dancer in regional theatres such as Village Theatre, Fifth Avenue Theatre, and Civic Light Opera (Seattle); Shaw Theatre Festival and Young People’s Theatre (Toronto); Arvada Center and Boulder’s Dinner Theatre (Denver); and national touring companies (Livent's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat). Locally acclaimed and award-winning lead roles include Fanny Brice (Funny Girl), Peter Pan (Peter Pan - Seattle Press Award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical), Annie Oakley (Annie Get Your Gun), Charity (Sweet Charity), Mrs. Lovett (Sweeney Todd), Winnifred (Once Upon a Mattress), Carrie Snow (Carousel), Sally Bowles (Cabaret), and Mole (The Wind in the Willows). During this period, she also trained with prestigious dancer/choreographer/directors such as Ann Reinking, Paula Abdul, and Debbie Allen. Further pursuing her passion for teaching, Pam earned her MA (2002) and Ph.D. (2008) in Theatre at University of Colorado at Boulder, specializing in musical theatre, directing, acting, theatre history, and dance/movement for actors. She taught at CU/Boulder as an adjunct before taking a full-time postdoctoral lecturer position with University of Denver, followed by three years as Assistant Professor of Theatre at St. Catherine University in Saint Paul, MN. As an associate member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, Pam has directed and choreographed numerous productions for professional and educational theatres in both the States and Canada.

Pam is also a recognized theatre scholar and author, with articles published in peer-reviewed journals such as Theatre Journal, Studies in Musical Theatre, and Journal of American Drama and Theatre. She is the co-author of Backstage Pass: A Survey of American Musical Theatre (Kendall Hunt Publishing, 2014) and contributed a chapter to iBroadway: Musical Theatre in the Digital Age (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017).
