Research

My research entails connecting field studies and modeling of river processes to sustainability, climate, ecosystems, and societal challenges at multiple spatial and temporal scales. I am especially interested in the nexus of water and energy systems; decarbonized and sustainable energy systems; hydroelectricity and dammed rivers; the effects of wildfire, floods, and other climate-driven events on rivers; relationships among geomorphic, hydrologic, and ecosystem processes; sediment transport and channel response associated with dam removal; and process-based approaches to stream restoration.

I was a co-PI on a recenctly completed National Research Traineeship graduate program investigating the nexus of food, energy, and water systems, UM BRIDGES.
