Travel Grants

Faculty travel grants may be awarded to faculty who are presenting on a topic pertinent to Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at a professional meeting or conference. Eligible faculty will have taught a course listed with Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies or served on a WGSS committee during the current or previous academic year. Travel Grant funds can only be utilized for conference registration fees, transportation and lodging. Official UM travel paperwork must be submitted through the home department prior to application for a travel scholarship.

To apply, please send a one-page letter to the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program Coordinator that includes the following:

1. Name of the meeting/conference at which you are presenting
2. Date and location of the meeting/conference
3. Title and abstract of the paper you will be presenting and how it relates to the Women's and Gender Studies Program mission.
4. Amount of funding requested from Women’s and Gender Studies
5. Summary of other funding sources for your travel
6. Statement of involvement in WGSS Program in current or previous year

*Decisions made post-deadline. Maximum award amount is $300.

Women's and Gender Studies Research Award

Faculty research awards may be given to faculty who have published, produced or presented books, articles or creative works that relate to the mission of the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program mission. Eligible faculty will have taught a course listed with Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies or served on a WGSS committee during the current or previous academic year. Publication or performance must be dated between July 1-June 30 of the application year.

To apply, please send a one-page letter to the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program Coordinator that includes the following:

1. Statement of involvement in WGSS Program in the current or previous year.
2. English language original or translation copy or galley proof of publication or video of performance or production.

Application deadline TBA.

Decisions made post-deadline. The maximum award amount is $100.
