A multi-media exhibit by Wyoming artist Ashley Hope Carlisle entitled Dissemination Nation will open at The University of Montana Gallery of Visual Arts Thursday, March 4 and be on view through March 25. An artist lecture is scheduled Thursday, March 4, 5:00 pm in Room 356 of the Social Science Building and is sponsored by the Jim and Jane Dew Visiting Artist Lecture Series. A reception for the artist will immediately follow in the Gallery of Visual Arts until 7:00 pm. The gallery is located on the first floor of the Social Science Building and the events are free and open to the public.

Concepts of transition and displacement are prevalent in the mixed media drawings, sculpture, and video works by Ashley Hope Carlisle. Originally from New Orleans, the traumatic event and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina forced Ashley Hope Carlisle to redefine her connection to people and place. Her exhibition entitled Dissemination Nation expresses the many parallels between plant life and the human condition.

Ashley Hope Carlisle is currently an Assistant Professor of Art in Sculpture at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Her work has been exhibited throughout the nation, and in England and Italy. She will be participating in the Western Cast Iron Art Alliance Conference hosted by the School of Art Sculpture Division at The University of Montana in May 2010.
