Ellen Walden was born in Southern California, but raised in Western Washington just north of Seattle. She received her BA in studio art from Humboldt State University in 2010. Presently, she is working towards an MFA in photography.
A camera is a tool, one among many that I use to decipher this life. It has allowed me to explore my surroundings as well as my thoughts and emotions. As an artist, I strive to project aspects of my own life in my work. Photography has offered me a chance to work through the emotions and ideas that I wrestle with everyday. Through this I am able to begin accessing the meaning behind my subject matter and how it affects my life. I am hopeful that I will continue to grow and understand.
