About the Office Of Legal Counsel

The Office of Legal Counsel maintains a confidential, approachable, and professional legal environment for representing all of the campuses of The University of Montana. UM Legal Counsel advises the University President, as well as other UM administrators, faculty, staff, and official University organizations; interprets federal and state laws, in addition to Montana University System policies; and oversees all legal activity involving the University. UM Legal Counsel works very closely with the Montana University System Chief Legal Counsel in Helena. The UM Legal Counsel office extensively uses law students as academic interns and is an approved Law School clinic.
