Scientific meetings can be invigorating, promote the exchange of ideas, foster new collaborations, and provide opportunities to reconnect with existing colleagues. They form an essential part of the connective tissue for the global scientific enterprise. Scientists rely on them to develop networks and knowledge that are necessary to build a career in science. However, not all scientists have positive experiences when they attend scientific meetings.
