To receive an application for on-campus living for the 5- or
10-week summer sessions, special sessions or Continuing

NOTE: UM conducts an annual shutdown of the Heating Plant
in order to perform necessary maintenance. The annual shutdown
is scheduled for May 16-25, 2009. During this time, hot water
will not be available.
Participants staying in residence halls are expected to comply
with all residence hall regulations. Clean, comfortable and
convenient room furnishings provided are: single bed, closet,
chest or dresser, study table, chair, curtains and wastebasket.
Linen is not provided. The resident is responsible for maintaining
the cleanliness of their individual room, common area and bathroom.
A resident will be charged for damage to the room, cleaning
charges, lost keys and outdoor access card.
Things to bring from home: Linen (for standard
twin size bed), bedding, towels, fan and other personal care
items. Note: air conditioning is not provided, so bringing a
fan is highly recommended.
Each room in Pantzer Hall includes a data port which can be
activated for internet connection. The charge for Direct Connect
Services is $30.00 per month or $60.00 for the full summer.
Amounts are not pro-rated and no refunds are available for unused
past portions due to early departure. Residents wishing to purchase
this service must complete the activation form and make payment
when they check-in.
Each bedroom has one telephone jack with can be activated for
an additional charge. The telephone line will supply dial tone
for local dialing and voicemail only. There is a $35 activation
fee and $30 monthly service charge. The student must supply
their own telephone handset.
To make a reservation: Payment in full is required
at the time an application is submitted. In order to receive
a refund, cancellations must be received in writing 5 days prior
to the expected arrival date.
Reservation Information: Housing is available from
May 24-August 1, 2009. Housing will not be available after 1:00
pm on August 1, 2009. Housing charges are based on the number
of nights a room has been assigned.
Nightly rate: $17.00 per person, per night.

MANSFIELD
LIBRARY

The University of Montana Libraries are teaching and research
libraries that provide an array of information resources and
services in support of the curricular and research programs
of the University. These resources include traditional library
collections and electronic access to a network of research databases,
electronic journal packages, electronic journal subscriptions
and a Web-based library catalog. Library services include in-depth
research and reference assistance, an extensive instruction
program integrated into the university curriculum, and full-service
computing and copying facilities. Extensive services for distance
education students and faculty are available to provide an equitable
educational experience.
The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Library comprises the heart of
UM’s library system. Collections exceed 1.5 million bound
volumes, access to over 20,000 print and electronic journals,
an expanding array of electronic databases, nearly 100,000 media,
a federal government depository collection, archives and special
collections. These collections are supplemented by an active
interlibrary loan service through which the resources of worldwide
libraries are made available to students and faculty. Library
resources in support of the Missoula College of Technology are
located on the East Campus. Students and faculty at both campuses
have access to all library
resources and services.
Over 100 public workstations throughout the building are wired
for fast and stable Internet connectivity in support of electronic
information resources. Additionally, wireless internet access
is available in designated areas throughout the library. A state-of-the-art
Student Learning Center underscores the goal of the library
as a learning laboratory in which students discover how to access
and evaluate information in support of their advancing academic
careers. Study carrels, group study rooms and study tables on
all floors of the library provide quiet study locations.
Affiliated library collections of The University of Montana
system and the collections of the D'Arcy McNickle Library of
Salish Kootenai College and St. Patrick Hospital Center for
Health Information are included in The Mansfield Library's online
catalog.Borrowing privileges at the Mansfield Library and the
College of Technology Library require the possession of a validated
Griz Card.

DINING
SERVICES

Winner of 19 international dining awards, University Dining
Services (UDS), is home to nationally renowned chefs and offers
a variety of food choices during Summer Semester. The quality
of the cuisine and professionalism of the staff are unsurpassed
among college and university food service providers. UDS is
actively involved in educating our guests about food, diet and
nutrition. We regularly feature foods from around the world.
UDS is committed to global sustainability. We purchase products
produced in an ecologically sound, socially just and economically
viable manner whenever possible. The University of Montana’s
UM Farm to College Program (FTC), which gives priority to purchasing
Montana foods, has been featured in articles in Time Magazine
and the New York Times. We are proud to announce that through
the FTC program, we have purchased over $3 million in food products
from local farmers and ranchers.
PURCHASING MEALS
Students may purchase food from our facilities
in one of five ways: cash, checks, UMoney, credit cards and
the Commuter Meal Plan. The Commuter Meal Plan is a convenient,
affordable, and flexible plan available to students attending
Summer Semester 2009. The minimum buy-in for a Commuter Meal
Plan is $20 and UDS adds a 10% premium to each deposit made
(i.e., deposit $20 and receive $22 to spend). Additional deposits
must be a minimum of $20, and may be made during business hours,
or through our online form at our website, life.umt.edu/uds.
Students are required to use their Griz Card when purchasing
food at the UC Food Court, Food Zoo, La Peak, Think Tank and
Jus Chill’n. Commuter Meal Plan participants also receive
a $2.50 discount off the lunch and dinner cash price in the
Food Zoo. For further details or to purchase a Commuter Meal

Main Office in the Lommasson Center, room 145.
Hours of operation for our facilities are posted at each location
and on our web site. Weekend and holiday food service is only
available when the Food Zoo is open for summer contract service.
DINING LOCATIONS:
The Food Zoo, located in the Lommasson Center,
is an all you care to eat venue. It will only be open when providing
summer contract and conference meal service. The Food Zoo hours
of operation vary according to summer contract schedules, please
call 406.243.5650 for summer hours, or see our website, life.umt.edu/uds.
UC Food Court, located on the second floor
of the University Center, is open Monday through Friday, 11:00
am - 2:00 pm during the summer. Offering a relaxing atmosphere
in the UC Commons or great meals on the go, the UC Food Court
offers a variety of foods from local and national restaurateurs
including sandwiches, pizza, chicken wings, burgers, soups,
salads, ice-cream and more. Two new food venues, Casa Nina and
Mark Pi’s, offer students a wide range of choices of Mexican
and Asian dishes.
La Peak is located on the main floor of the
Lommasson Center. It is open from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday through
Friday, and closed on Holidays. We offer a variety of espresso
and coffee drinks along with a variety of pastries, hot and
cold sandwiches and refreshing iced drinks.
Think Tank, located on the south side of Urey Lecture
Hall, offers gourmet coffee, espresso, chai tea, Italian soda,
ice-cold
beverages and grab and go sandwiches and snacks. Think Tank
is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 1:30 pm. Whether you
need that morning boost or a lunch on the go, Think Tank has
you covered.
University Catering Services provides UM students,
faculty, staff and alumni with a wide range of services. Recognized
for exceptional quality and attention to detail, this is an
outstanding resource when planning a meeting or event. Service
for everything from coffee breaks to gourmet dinners and elegant

GRIZ
CARD

The Griz Card, the official identification card of The University
of Montana, features the cardholder's color photograph, identification
number, library barcode number and a magnetic stripe. A Griz
Card provides convenience, flexibility and security to the campus
community.
Griz cards are required to access services such as Campus Recreation,
Curry Health Center, Mansfield Library, Presentation Technology
Services, Adams Center Box Office, Mountain Line bus, Dining
Services meal plans and residence hall doors. To obtain a Griz
Card, students should present a valid photo ID at the Griz Card
Center, located in the University Center and open during the
summer from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. New Griz Cards
cost $15, replacement Griz Cards cost $10, and a Griz Card trade
costs $5. Students should report a Griz Card loss or theft immediately
online at www.GrizCard.com to prevent unauthorized use. The
Griz Card is validated automatically the day after registration
fees are paid.
UMoney, a debit account accepted at locations such as The Bookstore,
UC Market, Dining Services, Vending Machines, and over 60 off
campus merchants, may be opened with cash, check, or credit
card. Deposits can be made to a UMoney account in person, over
the phone, or online, and once deposited, the money never expires.
The off campus merchants are student friendly and offer varying
discounts when UMoney is used. These merchants fall into a wide
variety of categories such as automotive, restaurants, coffee
and specialty drinks, video rentals, music, florists, grocery
and convenience, drugstores, laundry, and dry cleaning.

CAMPUS
PARKING

Current parking decals are required on all motor vehicles, including
motorcycles, parked on the UM-Missoula campus during the Summer
Semester. Summer Semester parking fees are $32 for a single
session or $59 for the full summer, and decals may be obtained
at the Office of Public Safety, Physical Plant. For short-term
parking needs, Day Pass permits are available for $3.00 at the
Griz Central Cashier, The Bookstore, University Center Customer
Service Counter, and the Office of Public Safety. Other short-term
parking is available in the metered lots located north and east
of the University Center, east of the Mansfield Library, north
of Maurice Avenue, south of the Lommasson Center, west of the
Gallagher Business Building and between 6th Street and Eddy
Avenue ($.75 per hour).

RECREATION

Campus Recreation provides leisure and recreational programs
and events throughout the summer, including day hikes and rafting
trips. In addition, UM students may use the Fitness & Recreation
Center, Grizzly Pool, tennis courts and the golf course. For

The University Center, provides services such as botanical gardens,
bookstore, quality convenient food, mini-mall and lounge, and
an interesting place for students to relax between classes.

CURRY
HEALTH CENTER

The Curry Health Center, a limited-care facility on campus,
provides health care to University of Montana students. Some
services require an additional fee not covered by the Curry

ELIGIBILITY FOR SERVICE
To be eligible for service at the Curry Health Center, students
must:
1. Pay the Clinical Health Fee or
2. Pay for specific services on a Fee-for-Service basis. For

IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS
Unless admitted under the Summer Semester 2008 Only status,
newly admitted students and students readmitted to UM after
a 24-month absence must submit a completed Preregistration Immunization
Form and a validated immunization record to Curry Health Center
prior to registration. For more information regarding immunization

BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD STUDENT INSURANCE
Summer Semester Insurance coverage is available for students
enrolled for a minimum of one credit. Summer insurance coverage
does not automatically appear on student registration/bills.
Eligible students electing coverage should contact the Student
Insurance Representative in person at Curry Health Center, Room
111, or by telephone at 406.243.2844, during the first five
days of the first session of Summer Semester. For additional
Blue Cross/Blue Shield Student Insurance information, students
may visit ordway.umt.edu/sa/si.
AVAILABLE SERVICES
Medical Clinic
The medical clinic offers a broad range of services in an outpatient
clinic, including care for illnesses, injuries and medical conditions,
both acute and chronic. The clinic focuses on preventative medicine
including Pap smears, screenings and immunizations. The clinic
has diagnostic laboratory and x-ray services. For more information,

Pharmacy
The Health Services Pharmacy, located in Curry Health Center,
is managed by the UM College of Health Professions and Biomedical
Sciences. Health Services Pharmacy fills prescriptions from
any legal provider. For more information, call 406.243.5171.
Dental Clinic
The Dental Clinic offers a full range of both routine and urgent
care services during the 10-week summer session including, oral
exams, oral hygiene services, fillings, crowns, root canals,
etc. Students not paying the Curry Health Fee should contact
the Dental Clinic for Fee-for-Service options. For more information,

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
CAPS provides rapid access and brief therapy for UM students.
CAPS also serves the needs of students in crisis and facilitates
off-campus referrals when necessary. The clinic offers personal
counseling and psychological services for individuals. Limited
psychological assessments are available. Alcohol and other drug
services may be accessed through CAPS. All services are confidential.

Student Assault Recovery Center (SARC)
SARC offers free and confidential support, information and advocacy
services to survivors of rape, sexual assault, child sexual
abuse, relationship violence, sexual harassment and stalking.
Free services are also available to friends, partners, and relatives
of victims. SARC provides information and educational presentations
concerning the topic of sexual and relationship violence. For

Health Enhancement
Health Enhancement provides limited services during Summer Semester.
Information and resources concerning various college health
topics are available. For more information, or to schedule an

HOURS AND APPOINTMENTS
The Curry Health Center office is open 8:00
am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday.
Appointments are recommended. No after-hours or weekend services
are available. Walk-in
emergencies (medical, dental or counseling) are seen as soon
