Steps To Success

walking fun

Put a Little Bounce in Your Step-
Ways to make walking fun!!!

Walk with friends, coworkers, or roommates: One of the best ways to make and keep a schedule is to do it with a walking partner. One of the best motivators to get you out the door is to have somebody waiting for you.
Walk with your family: It’s a great way to catch up with your parents, siblings, kids, and spouse while encouraging the whole family to be active
Walk a dog: Don’t limit yourself to humans, dogs are some of the best and most motivating partners.
Vary your walking route: Discover all the great walking trails Missoula has to offer (visit http://www.missoulian.com/specials/hikebike/).
Walk to music: Since music can hinder your alertness, be extra careful around traffic.
Participate in local walks and runs: See the Sunday sports section of the
Missoulian for a list of local races.
Reward Yourself: see “Going the Distance”
Every Step Counts - How to get more steps in each day!!!

Activities other than walking: Pedometers will accurately count steps when walking or running, but keep in mind that swimming, cycling, stair stepping, and weight training are also excellent sources of exercise (add 1,000 steps for every 10 minutes of non-stepping activity).
