FAQs

About Applying to University Villages

No. Once you have applied, you will be placed on a waiting list. As we receive notice from residents of their intent to vacate, we offer apartments out to the next person on the waiting list. Because it is not possible to determine how many vacate notices we will receive in any given time period, we cannot guarantee when a unit will be offered to you.

About Rent

No. Rent rates are the same for all tenants based on the area the unit is located and the number of bedrooms.

You will need to fill out the Advance Rent Request Form on our website. This will need to be submitted before your financial aid money is posted to your CyberBear account at the beginning of each semester. Typically, you will need to fill out and submit the online form the first week of August for Fall Semester, the first week of January for Spring Semester, and the first week of May for Summer Semester.

Contact the University Villages Office at (406) 243-6030 to have one sent to you. These forms are only available for a period of time before each semester begins.

You will need to fill out the Advance Rent Request Form on our website and indicate how many months in advance you would like to pay. Requests to post rent in advance must be submitted at least 24 business hours before making the payment. Requests must be submitted by 4:00 pm in order for rent to be added to the account by the next business day.

No, you will not receive a late fee as long as rent is paid the first business day after the weekend.

About Living in University Villages

Maintenance requests can be submitted on myHousingPortal. You may also call the University Villages Office Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm, at (406) 243-6030. Please call early in the day to allow the maintenance technician time to complete the repair. Repair requests submitted later in the day may not be done until the following day unless it is an emergency. If you have an emergency repair after 5:00 pm, please call (406) 243-6030, and the after hours Community Assistant will assist you.

Fish are the only pets currently allowed in University Villages apartments. Residents with an unapproved pet will be in violation of the Student Conduct Code and may be evicted. This policy also applies to any guest visiting a tenant. If an unapproved or unauthorized pet is found on the premises, violators could lose their entire damage deposit and may be evicted through the Student Conduct Code process. Any damages, including the replacement of carpet, will be billed to your student account. Exceptions will be made for individuals who require a service or companion animal. This request must go through the Office for Disability Equity. This request must be submitted and approved prior to the animal being in the apartment.

About Moving Out

You are required to put in a 30-day notice and vacate 30 days after graduation.

A 30-day vacate notice can be submitted by completing the online Vacate Form. Your 30-day notice is valid from the date the University Villages Office receives the form. You will be charged 30 days of rent from the date the form is submitted, or rent through the date you indicate you are vacating, whichever is longer. For more information on moving out, please see the Vacate Policy and Procedures Guide.

Your damage deposit will be placed on your student account. If you are due a refund (e.g., your move out charges and all other charges owed to the school do not exceed your deposit amount), it will be administered via the option you chose through Business Services. If you are unsure of how you are set up to receive refunds from the University of Montana, please contact Business Services.

We have compiled a helpful Vacate Policy and Procedures Guide for you to reference and refer to with any of your questions. This guide outlines our policy, procedures, and cleaning requirements.
