The Department of Geography seeks a Cartographer/Geographic Information Scientist to fill a one-year Lectureship, with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years.
Expectations include teaching core courses in Cartography/Geographic Information Systems, including Principles of Digital Cartography and corresponding labs
Thematic Cartography and GIS and corresponding labs
One upper-division GIS methods course and labs (preferably Internet GIS or Spatial Statistics and GIS)
One graduate-level applied GIS course with labs (for instance, Seminar in GIS or Vector GIS)
In addition, this person will serve as the Geospatial Research and Teaching (GReaT) Laboratories Coordinator.
Duties include overseeing undergraduate lab monitors, coordinating technical support for software and hardware upgrades/maintenance, overseeing Internships, and providing support to students and faculty.
Substantive experience teaching with ESRI products is required and expertise with Open Source software is desired.
Documentation of teaching excellence will be helpful in the application process.

A graduate degree in Geography or allied field is required.
A Ph.D. in Geography is strongly preferred.

The Department of Geography has over 75 undergraduate students and over 45 graduate students, and in cooperation with the College of Forestry and Conservation offers a Certificate in Geographic Information System Sciences and Technologies.
