This is a leadership position with considerable complexity, including all aspects of personnel management, budget preparation, long range planning, delivery of mental health services, identification and trouble-shooting of legal components and complaints, participation on campus committees, direction and involvement in campus outreach programs, staff development and training and quality improvement efforts. The position reports directly to the Director of Curry Health Center.
The Director of CAPS also supervises the coordinators of Self Over Substance (SOS), an educational drug and alcohol program, and the Student Assault Resource Center (SARC), a victims' advocacy and violence reduction program.
The CAPS Director regularly interfaces with key campus departments, including leadership in Student Affairs, the Dean of Students, faculty, Athletics, Administration, and Public Safety, and has frequent contact with University legal counsel, parents, loved ones and concerned others. This position provides consultative services to the broader campus community related to suicide prevention and dealing with disruptive students.

Clinical skills and expertise in crisis management, psychotherapy, group therapy, psychological testing, psychometrics.

Networking skills with the ability to represent the health center positively on all levels.
Knowledge of the Clery Act and its implications.
Proficiency in the use of computers and related software applications (Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, Email, Internet).
Interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with diverse individuals/groups.
Effective public speaking skills.
Knowledge of crisis intervention and prevention of sexual and relationship violence
Knowledge of substance abuse and dependence.
Experience with peer-based services.
Experience in suicide prevention and first responder training.

Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, completion of an APA approved clinical internship, a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated managerial experience, licensure or eligibility for licensure in Montana. Experience in college health preferred.

| Program Overview/Environment |
|
Curry Health Center, a department of the Division of Student Affairs, provides primary and preventative health care for the 14000 students of The University of Montana and is composed of 4 services; Medical, Dental, Health Enhancement and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Five psychologists, four counselors and a half-time psychiatrist provide care for an average of 1350 students each year. Service delivery is augmented by interns from the Department of Psychology and Counselor Education. Services include crisis service as well as individual, couples and group therapy, using a short term model.
Curry Health Center offers after-hours and weekend acute care services, augmented with an 8 bed infirmary. CAPS staff provides consultative services in the infirmary and limited after hours service as needed. Clinical services in CAPS and Medical Services are fully integrated.
