Primary Functions

  • Position assists the Associate Athletic Director in the processes, procedures, and systems necessary to ensure the department’s compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and conference rules and regulations to include coaching personnel and conduct, recruiting, academic eligibility, financial aid and playing seasons for 14 NCAA Division I men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports
  • Assists with NCAA rules education programs for administrators, coaches, support staff, student-athletes and booster groups; consults with the Scholarship Coordinator in the Financial Aid Office, the Associate Athletic Director, and coaches to prepare student-athlete scholarship documents; assists in academic certification of eligibility to participate; review information for eligibility requirements; conducts related research on the NCAA rules and regulations; prepares related documents to be filed with UM, the Big Sky Conference Office, NCAA, NCAA Clearinghouse, and other institutions; maintains accurate files and tracks related information using specialized software; performs data entry; completes other duties as assigned
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and four (4) of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, grammar, composition, and proofreading; ability to prepare and process related documents
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn and apply The University of Montana’s policies and procedures, NCAA and Big Sky Conference rules and regulations
  • Effective public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills, including ability to work with diverse group of individuals and establish and maintain positive working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to share knowledge with others while providing positive customer service and maintaining a professional, personable demeanor at all times
  • Ability to conduct related research
  • Ability to review and evaluate materials for compliance and completeness
  • Assist in presenting educational information to a diverse group of individuals
  • Skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet software (MS Office), internet and e-mail with the ability to learn new software programs
  • Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to complete tasks with a high level of detail and accuracy
  • Ability to problem solve and make sound decisions
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality; accurate file and tracking system
  • Ability to act with initiative
  • Ability to use and troubleshoot standard office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and multi-line phone systems
