Primary Functions

  • Position will evaluate, verify and administer federal financial aid applying rules, regulations, policies and procedures to analyze student financial aid need and award or deny aid; counsels and informs students and parents pertaining to Financial Aid policies and procedures involving Financial Aid programs; assists Associate Director with various programs and projects; assists the Director with various duties; assists in maintaining, monitoring and reconciling grants disbursement reports and compiles information for submitting all federal and state grant reports; may provide support in Griz Central as needed
  • Position will learn and apply the department and University of Montana, federal and state policies, procedures, and programs; demonstrate effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse group of individuals (outside agencies, campus departments, parents, students and co-workers); communicate complex information to others; demonstrate skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software (Microsoft Office) with the ability to learn other software (PowerPoint, Banner database software); maintain strict confidentiality; demonstrate organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment with attention to detail; will work as a member of a team through meeting participation, group work and collaboration; act with initiative; demonstrate ability to problem solve while maintaining a professional, personable demeanor even in stressful situations
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and three (3) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Know of standard office practices and procedures, business English, grammar, spelling, composition, and punctuation with the ability to edit materials
  • Ability to plan, direct, and implement sound decisions in line with strict policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines and accurately complete tasks
  • Effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to others
  • Proven ability to provide professional customer service
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software
  • Proven ability to problem solve and maintain strict confidentiality
