Entry Rate: Position is designed for a Career Ladder; depending on experience and certification, may be hired as: Program Coordinator I - $11.331/hr. - $11.655/hr. or Program Coordinator II - $13.37/hr. - $13.434/hr.

Primary Functions

  • Position is responsible for managing and implementing the statewide Montana Making $ense AmeriCorps program. Duties include but are not limited to: recruits and supervises AmeriCorps members and service sites; coordinates member training; assesses member service activities; plans, coordinates, and executes member training retreats and in-service conference calls; develops member training information and tools; monitors and reports member development activities; implements and monitors program evaluation measures; makes suggestions for program improvements; conducts related research; writes original and renewal grant award requests; serves as the program’s local, state, and national representative; attends national and state conferences

  • Position will demonstrate: knowledge of office practices and procedures and business English, spelling, grammar and composition; knowledge and experience in program management and project planning; knowledge of program evaluation and needs assessment tools; knowledge and experience with supervisory practices and procedures; ability to plan and coordinate events and activities (training retreats, conference calls); ability to develop training tools and materials; knowledge of and experience with program assessment tools; strategic planning; ability to conduct research; effective public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills to develop rapport with a diverse group of individuals (AmeriCorps members, students, staff, faculty and community agencies/organizations); knowledge of or ability to learn The University of Montana policies and procedures and state and national program rules and regulations of the Corporation for National and Community Services; knowledge and experience with grant writing procedures; ability to become familiar with national service/grant funded programs; ability to make sound decisions and remain calm and professional at all times; effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks while paying attention to detail; skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, and database software with the ability to learn other software; ability to generate reports; maintain accurate files; ability to travel throughout Montana and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and two (2) years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, composition, and grammar
  • Effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population
  • Demonstrated skill in use of personal computers and related word processing, database, and spreadsheet software
  • Basic understanding of event planning practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory and training practices and procedures
  • Ability research, analyze data and provide appropriate reports
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program management and project planning; program evaluation and needs assessment tools
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn grant writing procedures
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Montana Driver’s License and be able to travel throughout the state as needed
