Primary Functions

  • The Events Coordinator will serve as program coordinator for the following events: The University of Montana homecomings, class reunions, community lecture series as well as various on-campus programs and events. For these events, duties include, but are not limited to: organizing the overall event; securing venues; making arrangements for supplies and other requirements for the programs; organizing the schedule of event facilitators, support persons and attendees; researching event information in the department files and also on the internet; creating agendas, programs and other written materials pertaining to the event; researching various event options; coordinating with printers and database manager to bring together components of promoting programs; maintaining historical records of events and producing reports based on those records
  • Position will demonstrate: ability to plan and organize events; effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks while paying attention to detail; effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population; demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and files and maintain strict confidentiality; knowledge of office practices and procedures and business English, spelling, grammar and composition; proven ability to problem solve, set priorities, and make sound decisions; demonstrated skill in use of personal computers and related word processing, database, and spreadsheet software; demonstrate skill in the operation of standard office equipment; printers, copiers, fax machine, multi- line phone system; knowledge of and ability to plan events specifically for higher education institutions
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and two (2) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and schedule events
  • Effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files; maintain strict confidentiality
