Position will act as an advisor and liaison to students involved in study abroad and exchange programs as well as the prospective and incoming English Language Institute (ELI) students at The University of Montana. Duties include, but are not limited to: supervising up to fifteen study abroad ambassador volunteers; responding to inquiries pertaining to study abroad programs, exchange programs, and the ELI program and its application and visa process; acting as liaison for international students on campus; processing ELI admission applications and study abroad and exchange applications; gathering and input of data into the university’s computer database, Banner; generating immigration documentation; maintaining foreign-student database; coordinating and supervising study abroad ambassador volunteer activities; holding regular meetings to schedule speakers, plan and coordinate study abroad information sessions, classes, student meetings, and other recruitment activities; recruiting for The University of Montana sponsored study abroad programs; making presentations about programs to students in study abroad information sessions, classes, student groups, and other recruiting sessions; preparing handouts and written materials; assisting with website editing and updating; assisting with study abroad fairs, pre-departure and re-entry workshops and with student mailings; planning and attending various events associated with the department; entering data, filing, and organizing the study abroad resources library
Position will demonstrate: knowledge of different higher education systems in the world; demonstrated sensitivity to cultural differences as evidenced by international experience and previous contact with people of diverse cultures; knowledge of and experience in study abroad programs; knowledge of and ability to advise international students; experience in working with exchange programs; ability to remain current on program information; ability to plan and organize events; effective written communication skills with the ability to write, edit, and layout documents and materials in a variety of formats suitable for the intended audience; effective presentation skills with the ability to represent International Programs to small and large audiences; knowledge of The University of Montana practices and procedures; knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, composition, and grammar; demonstrated customer service skills; ability to make sound decisions and remain calm and professional at all times; effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population; ability to take accurate messages; ability to maintain confidentiality; knowledge of supervisory practice and procedures; effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks while paying attention to detail; skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, and database software with the ability to learn other software; ability to use standard office equipment: copiers, fax machine, typewriters and multi-line phone system

| Minimum Job Qualifications |

High school graduation and two (2) years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
