Schedule: Full-time, 12 months/year, 1.0 FTE, Position is required to work an alternative work schedule, including some evening and weekend hours.
Entry Rate: $10.00/hr., Position will/may be eligible to receive $11.50/hr upon completion of CJIN/NCIC Operator II state certification

Primary Functions

  • Position provides office support in parking enforcement area. Duties include, but are not limited to: processing employee background investigations initiated by various departments on campus; explaining fine process; ensuring ticket numbers and payment amounts are entered correctly; researches and enters information into Bosscar parking system; retrieving student information requested by officers from the university computer administration system, Banner; accepting money from ticket payments and daily parking pass purchases, issuing refunds, compiling nightly deposits, and completing journal vouchers; accepting appeal forms and bonds; processing reports; coordinating appeal committee meetings, scheduling dates, times and places for traffic appeals, and composes information letter to appellant explaining the committee’s decision; issuing keys, collecting revenue through departmental key deposits, and operating key system and computer program; checking key authorization forms, collecting deposit fees and maintaining key card filing system, database system, and stock of keys; managing accounts payable and receivable for the key and parking programs

  • Position also acts as a back-up for Communication System operator. Duties include: answering emergency calls; dispatching University of Montana Police via two-way radio system; providing accurate and expeditious information to officers in the field; person in position must attend training at the Helena Facility to be certified through the Montana Law Enforcement Academy for Public Safety Communicators Basic; position is required to work an alternative work schedule, including some evening and weekend hours as part of performing back-up for Communication System operator; position is required to obtain CJIN/NCIC Operator II state certification within six months of employment

  • Position will demonstrate; full knowledge of parking rules, regulations, policies and procedures ability to plan and schedule events; ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and statutes; familiarity of the University of Montana campus and its buildings; ability to problem solve, set priorities, and make sound decisions; knowledge of policies a procedures regarding alarm systems; knowledge of accounts payable/receivable, cash handling and reconciliation; ability to perform basic mathematical computations quickly and accurately; ability to calmly, effectively and accurately perform job functions during high stress, heavy task load and/or unusual complex situations; ability to learn other software (Banner); ability to learn and apply relevant The University of Montana and departmental policies and procedures
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High School graduation and two (2) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Effective public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to efficiently operate dispatch equipment, multi-line telephones, radios, switchboard console, and standard office equipment
  • Knowledge of radio codes and ability to apply codes in the work environment
  • Ability to read a map, interpret directions and relay map information to concerned parties
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, composition, and grammar
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software
