Primary Functions

  • Position is responsible for the maintenance, repair and operation of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment, including all control and support systems for the equipment
  • Troubleshoots electrical, mechanical and control systems for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems
  • Rebuilds, repairs, and replaces equipment, including controls.
  • Reads and works from blueprints and deciphers electrical schematics
  • Handles refrigerants in accordance with State and Federal laws
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration
  • Performs spring startup and fall shutdown on air conditioning equipment
  • Maintains equipment records and orders all necessary parts and equipment
  • Programs computerized heating and air conditioning controls and performs other related duties
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation and a minimum of five (5) years of experience with pneumatic HVAC controls, direct digital controls and refrigeration/air conditioning equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience with Johnson Controls, Honeywell Controls, Robert Shaw Controls, ASC controllers and Delta system controls (include a copy of training certificate or other documentation)
  • Computer experience with direct digital control programming and equipment operation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of methods, materials, practices, equipment, machines and techniques used in the HVAC trade and ability to follow instructions
  • Valid universal certification for refrigerant handling; copy of refrigerant handling certification must be included with resume
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods and processes in the use of materials, tools and equipment of the trade, including safety rules and procedures related to the trade
  • Physical Requirements

    Qualified candidates must be able to meet minimum requirements and perform the primary functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift: ground to 36 in. up to 100#; waist to overhead up to 15#. Ability to front carry up to 50# for 50’ or less, with one or two hands. Pushing/pulling forces required during use of tools and moving equipment: 100# sustained. Static forward bending and twisting from a standing, crouching or kneeling position while using tools. Reaching with arms in all directions. Working overhead from various positions: standing, squatting, on knees. Balancing when climbing/working on a ladder or scaffold. Crouching and kneeling throughout the day on even and uneven surfaces. Use of various grip circumferences and strengths as well as static grip positions during the use of various tools (4 ½” to 5 ½” circumference needing an average of 50# of grip force) and while manipulating various work materials (max 100#). Must be able to wear a negative pressure respirator and must pass the OSHA required medical exam. A physical screening will be administered prior to final offer of employment.
