Primary Functions

  • Position performs administrative support functions within the individual residence halls and coordinates all business activities with the Residence Life Office. Duties include, but are not limited to: providing reception, information, resource and administrative assistance for students, guests, staff, faculty and visitors; interacting with staff, students, guests, faculty, and visitors working, residing, or living within the Residence Life facilities; performing cash receiving and balancing functions

  • Position will demonstrate: knowledge of The University of Montana practices and procedures; knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, composition, and grammar; ability to coordinate work schedules with staff, students, faculty, guests and visitors; demonstrated customer service skills; ability to make sound decisions and remain calm and professional at all times; effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population; ability to take accurate messages; ability to maintain confidentiality; effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks while paying attention to detail; skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, and database software with the ability to learn other software; ability to use standard office equipment: copiers, fax machine, typewriters and multi-line phone system; demonstrated skill in cash handling and balancing accounts
  • Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High School graduation and one (1) year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including ability to work with a diverse population
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment
  • Ability to operate personal computers, related word processing, spreadsheet and database software A typing exercise will be given at time of interview
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, composition, and grammar
  • Knowledge of cash handling and accounts management procedures
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files; maintain strict confidentiality
