The Administrative Associate I will serve as the first point of contact for students, staff, faculty, alumni, visitors and guests as well as provide reception and administrative support to the ASUM Administration office. Duties include, but are not limited to: greeting visitors; answering phones; answering routine inquiries; making referrals; e-mailing information to correspondents; assisting in web access navigation; receiving cash and checks; issuing receipts and preparing paperwork for deposits; utilizing the University of Montana database software, Banner, to run queries; managing and training in the use of copier, fax and shredding machine as well as the scanner; receiving and entering student timecards and ASUM forms; entering data for student payroll; running errands and making deliveries on campus; completing other tasks as assigned
Position will demonstrate: effective interpersonal, customer service, and oral communication skills, including ability to work with diverse population and build positive relationships; knowledge of ASUM student government and student organizations; ability to assess the needs of the customers and provide information and/or direction in a timely, clear, and friendly manner; knowledge of The University of Montana campus; knowledge of The University of Montana practices and procedures; familiarity with basic bookkeeping concepts; ability to navigate UM websites, edit and update department website, and troubleshoot basic website problems; effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks while paying attention to detail; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software with the ability to learn other software (Banner, UMDW); knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, composition, and grammar; ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment and act with initiative; ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments; ability to take accurate messages; effective written communication skills with the ability to write, edit, and layout documents; ability to use standard office equipment: copiers, fax machine, typewriters and multi-line phone system

| Minimum Job Qualifications |

High school graduation and one (1) year prior related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
