The Resident Assistant is a part time (20 hours per week) live-in student responsible for a floor or wing of a residence hall consisting of 23 to 52 students. They work in all phases of the residential living experience along side the Area Coordinator and are responsible for their floor community. They foster an atmosphere for academic, social, cultural and emotional growth in the residence hall by serving as an advisor to the residents; assist in the enforcement of all University and hall policies; are responsible for the general well-being, community development and a student learning environment in the residence hall. Compensation: RAs earn an on-campus room, meal plan and stipend based on their residence hall placement. For the 2014-2015 academic year new RAs earn $9,434.00.
2015-2016 RA Application Process
All RA candidates must complete an online application to be considered for the position. The New RA Application will open on Thursday, November 13, 2014 and will closed on Friday, February 13, 2015. The Returning RA Application closed on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Once an application is received you will receive an email with information about scheduling two interviews, a group process interview and an individual interview.
Group Process Interview
All new RA candidates must attend one of the two scheduled group process interviews- Friday, February 20, 2015 from 4:30-6:30pm or Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Group Process is a portion of the interview process when RA candidates are given different activities to work through as a group.
All RA candidates must attend a 20-minute individual interview. These interviews will take place February 23- March 6, 2014. This interview will consist of a question and answer session with the questions more biographical in nature so we can get to know who you are, why you are interested in being an RA and what kind of activities, jobs, and experiences you have been involved in.
All RA candidates will be notified of their hiring status on Friday, March 20, 2015.
