Summer Semester is the perfect opportunity to focus and explore.

Focus. Fulfill your general education and major requirements, replace a grade, lighten your credit load for Fall and Spring, or get that course you've been worried about out of the way. Summer Semester provides shorter terms and smaller class sizes for more than 750 courses, including more than 100 general education courses.

Explore. Gain a fresh perspective, sample a major, or discover something new inside the classroom without sacrificing fun outside. Summer Semester offers special topics, elective courses, and a variety of schedules, including 4-day weeks and online courses.

  • UM Students:  Register now on CyberBear!
  • New or Visiting Students:  Apply today!

Summer Semester also provides an opportunity for educators to receive academic credit for teacher recertification and upward salary mobility without formal admission to The University of Montana. Visit Professional Development Services for more info.

Attention icon   Important New Information Regarding Summer Financial Aid!

Due to recent changes in the federal law, the University of Montana may be able to offer additional Pell aid for Summer Semester even if a student attended the academic year full time for both semesters. This "third" semester within the same academic year has not been possible until this change in the law. The change in the law, however, has not changed the student loan programs. Students will be eligible only for the unused balances they may have from the academic year loan annual limits.

Students should check with the Financial Aid Office to find out how to apply for Summer aid and to be evaluated for all types of assistance:
