Personal Summary
Kyra is a PhD candidate in the Paleoecology and Fire Ecology Lab at the University of Montana, working with Dr. Philip Higuera. Kyra’s research focuses on understanding the causes and biogeochemical consequences of wildfires, from time scales of years to millennia. She is studying fire history and ecosystem impacts in the Northern Rockies over the past 2,500 years as part of the NSF-funded Big Burns Project. In 2018 Kyra was awarded a Graduate Research Innovation award from the Joint Fire Science Program to study post-fire tree regeneration and biogeochemical change in the Lolo Peak and Sunrise fires of 2017. Kyra graduated from Colorado College, summa cum laude, with a B.A. in Environmental Science, in 2016.
