Personal Summary

As a kid, any time Jordan was asked what she wanted to do when she grew up she would respond "I want to save the animals". This early passion for animals of all shapes and sizes lead Jordan to a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Drake University in Des Moines. There she spent her free time working in the educational department of a local zoo sharing the wonders of the animal kingdom with school groups. After graduating Jordan spent 10 years on a wide variety of projects including the Conservation Corps of Iowa, a shorebird study in North Dakota, a long-term fisher research program in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and a deer and mountain lion project in Northern California. These days Jordan has traded in capture experience for a focus on non-invasive methods to study threatened and endangered species. She is a part of a project at the USFS Rocky Mountain Research Station that is developing a collaborative mesocarnivore monitoring program that will span the entire western US and focuses on wolverine, fisher, lynx, red fox, and marten. Her master's research focuses on better understanding the habitat and species interactions that can be used to predict where Rocky Mountain red foxes occur as well as assessing the statistical strength of combining disparate datasets to predict population trends.
