Research Properties

Through the Montana Forest and Conservation Experiment Station, the college owns two research properties: Lubrecht Experimental Forest and the Bandy Experimental Ranch. Through a unique partnership with the Boone and Crockett Club, the college sponsors research and other activities at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch.

Lubrecht Experimental Forest

Lubrecht Experimental Forest is a 21,432-acre outdoor classroom and research laboratory in the Blackfoot River drainage. The forest is open to the public with lodging, food and many recreational opportunities. Students and faculty use the forest for research and education. Visit the Lubrecht web site for more information.

Bandy Experimental Ranch

Bandy Ranch is 3,596-acre working cattle ranch deeded to the Montana Forest and Conservation Experiment Station at the University of Montana in 1990 by the estate of Ed Bandy for agricultural research and management. The ranch is located 18 miles northeast of the Lubrecht Forest.
