Favorite spot on campus: My favorite spot on campus is the Mineralogy Lab on the third floor of the Clapp Building. It has two walls of windows, so there is plenty of natural light and there are always interesting rock and mineral samples to look at. It’s usually pretty quiet and a great place to get a lot of work done.

Favorite H&S Experience: My favorite experience has been getting to take classes in several different fields of Geoscience. When I first came here, I did’t anticipate the breadth of opportunity I would have to explore so many fields of Geoscience. I can determine what I really enjoy, and what I would most like to pursue as a master’s degree or career path. It is interesting to be able to go from one class about mineralogy, to another focusing on groundwater, then to studying the evolution of plate tectonics or geomorphology. At first none of the topics seem to have anything to do with one another, but when I take a step back and look at Earth as a whole, it’s so interesting to see how they all work together. All the professors are so passionate about geoscience and their fields, and it makes every class very interesting. I also enjoy how intertwined Geoscience is with other subjects in Humanities and Science.

Favorite spot on campus: The Branch Center. I love being surrounded by the other culture and student clubs. There are these large, floor to ceiling windows that overlook the oval which are perfect for a little getaway while studying. It’s also near the Market and Food Court for a quick snack/meal.

Favorite H&S Experience: Getting to know how the Professors found their interests and being able to take many of the classes that the H&S offers.
