For PERS or TRS members to qualify for these UM retiree privileges, employees must elect to receive their pension immediately following termination of employment.

For TIAA members, to qualify for the privileges, the member must be at least 50 years of age with at least 5 years of TIAA-CREF participation at termination of employment.

Lifetime Retiree vs. Retiree

Those who qualify as retirees based on the above descriptions will be classified as "Retirees" if they worked less than 15 years and "Lifetime Retirees" if they worked 15 or more years at the University of Montana.
