The University of Montana Staff Senate facilitates communication and cooperation between the administration and the staff of The University of Montana. The Staff Senate promotes and works for improved working conditions and the professional welfare of UM's staff - "The Heart of the Grizzly."
Senate Approves "Statement of Ethical Principles"
At the November 13, 2013, Staff Senate meeting, the Senators approved the following statement:
The University of Montana community has core ethical commitments. In order to thrive, we invite all members of the University of Montana to take these values into consideration when making decisions that affect the community:
respecting the dignity, rights and differences of all persons,
practicing personal responsibility, honesty, trustworthiness, and academic integrity,
safeguarding the public trust by being good stewards of institutional resources,
promoting justice, learning, academic freedom, service, and cultivating individual potential,
respecting Montana's natural environment.
Staff Senate Presents $1000 to Financial Aid
Members of the Staff Senate Fundraising Committee presented a check for $1000 to the Financial Aid Scholarship Fund from funds raised at The Diploma Dash.

You can make a big difference and help your fellow staff members by contributing to the Staff Senate Scholarship Fund. Write a check to Staff Senate Scholarships and send it to Heather Hibbard in Student Support Services. Or, an easy way to contribute is by making small, regular contributions through payroll deduction. Even $5 per month would be a great donation! Your contributions are tax deductible! Dependent Tuition Waiver
Employees must be employed at least 3/4 time for five or more consecutive years before being eligible for a dependent tuition waiver benefit. Employees who utilize the faculty and staff tuition waiver are not eligible for a dependent tuition waiver during the same academic term. Only one dependent may utilize the dependent tuition waiver in an academic term. A dependent includes the employee's spouse or adult dependent, as defined in the MUS Employee Benefits Plan, and financially dependent children as defined by the IRS who are unmarried and under age 25. The tuition waiver benefit for dependents shall be for 50% of the residential tuition. Dependents may not use the tuition waiver benefit to attend law school or obtain a graduate degree. Staff Tuition Waiver
To qualify for a Tuition Fee Waiver of in-state tuition for regular courses of study at The University of Montana, eligible staff members must have completed their probationary period, must be on permanent employee status, must be working at least .75 full-time employment, and must have obtained approval from their supervisor and administration.
