Outdoor Recreation Program

The Outdoor Program at UM offers campus guests multiple recreation opportunities. From a lecture on an outdoor topic to a guided hike right off of campus to shooting the rapids at the Alberton Gorge, their experience and passion for the outdoors will be sure to lend an exciting adventure for your group.

UM Fitness and Recreation Center

The FRC features a climbing gym, more than 250 pieces of strength training and cardiovascular equipment, a cardio theater, 3 multipurpose/aerobic studios, 2 basketball courts, a volleyball/badminton/multi-use court, 7 racquetball/handball courts, a squash court, an indoor running track, and a sauna. The climbing gym boasts 7,000 square feet of climbing surface area, 50 feet of vertical ascent and a bouldering cave.

Options include renting the facility for your entire group or offering individuals purchase their own access pass while on campus.

UM Swimming Pool

Enjoy splashing around in The University of Montana Grizzly Pool, the only regulation 25-yard competition pool in the city of Missoula. Groups can rent the pool for a fun group activity, or individuals can access the pool.

Schreiber Gymnasium

A historic gymnasium with windows, high ceilings, wood floors and modern locker rooms. Close to convenient parking.

UM Golf Course

Picturesque and challenging, the course maintains a breathtaking natural habitat. The University of Montana Golf Course is located one mile south of the University of Montana campus. The U of M course is fun and affordable and caters to golfers of all ages and abilities. The golf course also offers a chance to unwind and relax at their newly remodeled Iron Griz restaurant, featuring American Bistro cuisine and a selection of local micro brews.
