Academic Reinstatement

Every student's academic journey looks different, and it is perfectly normal to encounter bumps on the road during this journey. Please know that academic suspension isn't the end of your mission to earn a degree, as many students return to Missoula College after academic suspension and go on to successfully earn their degree(s). Our number one priority is to work with all students appealing for academic reinstatement to ensure you enter back into college supported, valued, and that much more prepared and ready to get back on the road to success!

If you are academically suspended and want to attend Missoula College again, please start now on your academic reinstatement appeal process. The deadline for reinstatement is typically 2 weeks prior to the start of classes each semester, however exceptions can be made depending on the circumstances of your appeal.

The Reinstatement Appeal Packet is available here. Please read over the forms carefully and fill them out to the best of your ability. Once you have your forms completed, you will want to contact Jimmy Kendall, Director of Student Success at Missoula College via email (Jimmy.Kendall@mso.umt.edu) or phone (406-243-7840). Please plan to discuss your reinstatement packet with Jimmy during your meeting. These meetings are intended solely to ensure you have a strong academic support plan upon your return to Missoula College. Our number one goal is to have absolute assurance that all readmitted students have a foundation of support once reinstated.

As many students on academic suspension also have to submit appeals for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), please make sure to check your financial aid status by calling the Financial Aid office at 243-5373. It is important to understand that SAP appeals are separate from academic reinstatement appeals, so please ask for assistance with a financial aid appeal regarding this process.
