Planning, Budget & Analysis coordinates University-wide planning, budgeting, and effectiveness activities in support of teaching, research, and public service missions of the four campuses of The University of Montana. These activities include strategic planning and evaluation; capital planning and budgeting; budget development and requests, and annual operating budget; Institutional data management; institutional reporting and surveys; institutional research and special projects; and institutional accountability reporting.

Operating Budgets: Coordinates the development, submission, and implementation of the University's Biennial Budget Request and annual Operating Budget. Supports and evaluates the budget plan implementation, and ensures the availability and integrity of financial data, including information on peer institutions, to meet information needs for institutional decision-making.

Institutional Research and Data Management: Collects and maintains information resources to support analyses using faculty, student, course, financial, facility, and personnel systems of the University. Prepares reports concerning the University's operations for input into national databases and the Montana University System including the fact book, common data set, academic profiles, peer comparison reports, and IPEDS. Establishes definitions, standards, and naming conventions, and maintains data warehouse and identifies entry data.

Capital Planning and Budgeting: Coordinates the development of capital plans, policies, and practices to provide facilities, land, and equipment that meets the needs of the University. Ensures availability and integrity of facilities data to meet information needs for institutional decisions, and coordinates the development of the biennial capital request and the annual capital budget.

Strategic Planning: Continually monitors the socioeconomic, political, and educational environments to identify trends that impact higher education environments and the University, and to develop and recommend strategic responses. Coordinates development, submission, and implementation of the University Strategic Plan and directions, and will identify, analyze, and make recommendations on policy issues.
