The purpose of University of Montana’s Outdoor Program is to provide resources, skills, and opportunities to experience the outdoors safely through student leadership and education.
The Outdoor Program is located on the northeast corner of the Fitness and Recreation Center (FRC), next to Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Visit us to register for classes and trips, rent equipment, or tune your bike and skis.
Need equipment for your next recreational outing? The outdoor program has the gear to get you on the water, in the mountains, or up a rock wall. Only UM students, employees, and current Campus Recreation members are eligible to rent our equipment.
Take advantage of our recreation trips offered year around, or develop new outdoor skills and knowledge through classes and clinics taught by experienced outdoor instructors.
Do-it yourself or get expert assistance at our workbench to maintain your gear. We offer a clean, friendly environment with the tools and space necessary. Knowledgeable shop attendants will introduce you to the resources to fix and maintain your bike or winter equipment.
The Outdoor Program showcases a series of lectures, films, clinics, and other special events. All of our special events are open to the University community and general public.
Located in the Fitness and Recreation Center, the climbing wall and bouldering cave are popular for students and members of Campus Recreation. Learn to belay, take a fundamentals class, or advance your lead climbing skills with Outdoor Program's comprehensive programs.
