ElevateU - Expand your Curriculum
Integrate Career Readiness Skills to Support Student Success
Expand your Curriculum by integrating career readiness into your classroom.
- Access the Syllabi Template Language for quick copy-paste career readiness language and make connections to course learning objectives.
- Explicitly connect one UM Career Readiness Competency to an assignment or activity. Consider:
- Access to an Internship Moodle shell to support faculty advising and coordinated set of activities of your choosing.
- Connection to Career Coaches who can provide support and relevant resources for your department.
- Provide information to students about experiential learning opportunities (get a part-time job, secure an internship, participate in a service project)
- Learn more about resources for Faculty Internship Advisors
We provide many resources and tools for supporting faculty and students in the internship process.
Attend a ELCS workshop or request a staff meeting presentation to learn more about weaving career readiness into curriculum.
Menu of topics include:
- Career Readiness Syllabi Infusion
- High Impact Practices- introductory to advance
- Overview of ELCS Faculty Resources and Supports
- Overview of ELCS Student Resources and Supports

- Consider opportunities to integrate graded, extra credit, or professional development career related assignments (I.e., attendance at relevant career fairs and reflecting on experience).
- Embed ElevateU Online learning topics into class activities.
- Assign students to explore career paths of Griz Alums with your degree program on LinkedIn and the Griz Career Network. You can even filter by major!
- Request a ELCS Career Coach classroom presentation on a course relevant topic.
- Embed activities that have students reflect on their interests and values by taking a Values assessment or interest inventory.
- Create opportunities for students to complete an informational interview (career conversation) and/or job shadow.
- Encourage students to cultivate leadership skills by taking on more responsibilities in clubs, service projects, and group projects.
- Share opportunities for students to participate in a study abroad program or volunteer/work internationally.
- Invite in the Office of Undergraduate Research to connect with world-class research and creative faculty mentors - no matter the discipline!
