Program Highlights

  • FMRWM is a program driven by its mission of serving the rural and underserved parts of Montana.
    • Given special recognition in August of 2019 by The Rural Training Track Collaborative (RTTC) for graduating more family physicians that go into rural practice than any other program surveyed in the country. 70% of graduates and 7 per year.
  • We are invested in creating a culture of health, open communication, and empowerment for our staff, residents, and faculty.
  • Our strength resides in the program’s people, location, and ability to organize and innovate.
  • The curriculum is unique for:
    • An initial PGY1 rotation, Introduction to Family Medicine, which fosters strong class cohesion and support.
    • Broad training in full-scope family medicine
    • An emphasis throughout training on time in clinic to enhance outpatient skills and continuity of patient care.
    • Rural rotations in a variety of small communities in Western Montana.
    • Multiple curricular tracks for enhanced training in a variety of areas
