Final Grading Deadline

Final grading in CyberBear opens during finals week, and the deadline to enter grades is the Tuesday after finals by 11:59 PM. See below for exact dates for the current semester in progress.

7 Reasons Why the Grading Deadline is Critical

Financial aid eligibility is determined the day after grades are posted. Missing grades may negatively impact a student's ability to receive financial aid for the following semester.

Academic standing calculation runs immediately after grades are posted. Missing grades can cause students to be incorrectly placed on academic warning or suspension. Additionally, students may be left off the Dean's List and President's 4.0 List.

Degree awarding begins the day after grades are posted. If a student is missing a grade, they may not meet their graduation requirements.

Prerequisite checks run shortly after grades are posted. If a grade is missing for a course that is a prerequisite for an upcoming course, the student may be dropped from the upcoming course and lose their seat.

Student athletes may lose their NCAA eligibility if their grades are not received on time.

Military-affiliated students using education benefits must have all grades reported in order for UM to remain in compliance with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Manual transcript edits must be made by the Registrar's Office for each individual grade submitted after the deadline. We do our best to prioritize grade changes, but these can take up to several days to complete.

Spring Semester 2024

  • Friday, May 3: Grade entry opens in CyberBear.
  • Tuesday, May 14 at 11:59 PM: Grades are due.
  • Wednesday, May 15: Editing period
  • On or around Friday, May 17: Grades officially post transcripts

Summer Semester 2024

Early Sessions: 5-Week Session I & 7-Week Session I

  • Friday, June 21: Grade entry opens in CyberBear.
  • Tuesday, July 9 at 11:59 PM: Grades are due.
  • Wednesday, July 10: Editing period
  • On or around Friday, July 12: Early session grades officially post to transcripts.

10-Week, 5-Week Session II & Special Session* courses

  • Friday, July 26: Grade entry opens in CyberBear.
  • Tuesday, July 30 at 11:59 PM: Grades are due.
  • Wednesday, July 31: Editing period
  • On or around Friday, August 2: Grades officially post to transcripts.

*Special Session grading opens as early as June 10 depending on the course dates

7-Week Session II

  • Friday, August 16: Grade entry opens in CyberBear.
  • Tuesday, August 20 at 11:59 PM: Grades are due.
  • Wednesday, August 21 at 10 AM*: Editing period ends at 10 AM.
  • On or around Wednesday, August 21: Grades officially post to transcripts.

*The editing period is very brief due to the tight timeline between this session and autumn term.

Autumn Semester 2024

TENTATIVE*

  • Friday, December 6: Grade entry opens in CyberBear.
  • Tuesday, December 17 @ MIDNIGHT: Grades are due.
  • Wednesday, December 18: Editing period
  • On or around Friday, December 22: All grades officially post to transcripts.

*Grade entry may be opened sooner for early session classes.

Editing Period

The Registrar's Office leaves CyberBear grade entry open for one day after the deadline to allow for last minute edits without needing chair approval. To make edits, simply return to your final grade roster in CyberBear, adjust the grade, and click the save button.

This brief but important window provides students and instructors the opportunity to catch and quickly correct errors.

During the editing period, students can view their final grades in CyberBear. However, their classes will still appear as "In Progress" on their transcripts.

If you catch an error after grades are posted to transcripts, follow the instructions for how to change past grades.
