The mission of the Montana Biotechnology Center is to further basic and applied research in biotechnology at The University of Montana and to facilitate interactions between public sector investigators and private sector enterprises in the state. The Center provides core services and instrumentation at The University of Montana to support basic research that can be applied to a range of biotechnology efforts. The Center also seeks to serve as a convenient point-of-contact for inquiries related to biotechnology research and development. Researchers, entrepreneurs and product developers can be assisted in obtaining specific information from appropriate University offices and research units. Using a broad definition of the term "biotechnology", the Center collaborates with faculty groups within the Division of Biological Sciences, the Department of Chemistry, the College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences and the College of Forestry and Conservation to identify projects that build on existing research strengths and that address needs relevant to the State of Montana.
