WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA

We of The University of Montana extend a warm welcome to the campus.  As you settle in, make certain to take advantage of the services we seek to provide.  I know this campus well, since I studied here as a student years ago.  While the campus environment and infrastructure have changed considerably, I think you will find the same willingness of the faculty and staff to take an interest in helping you to achieve your goals that made such a difference for me.   I met faculty, staff, and students who have remained friends for life.  In addition, I found the education I received served me well in whatever I sought to do.  We pledge to do all we can to make your life as a student both enjoyable and rewarding.  Your success contributes to our success.  In fact, we pride ourselves on student success.

We will have much to celebrate during the coming year.  We will dedicate The Washington Education Center as a vital new entity linking our College of Education and Human Sciences to the public schools of the State; and the renovated and expanded School of Law Building, providing a facility with appropriate technology for the best possible legal education to our students.  Sometime during the year, we will also dedicate the new Native American Center, the only one of its kind in the country, providing valuable services to students as well as the twelve Tribal communities in the State.  These wonderful new facilities will enhance our capacity to respond to student and State needs.  As the year passes, you will find a rich fare of cultural and social activities to keep you involved as you pursue your studies.  I hope you will take advantage of them.

Finally, I maintain regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students, faculty, and staff.  I hope you will drop in to let me know how you have found life on campus.
