You are cordially invited to attend a seminar with Patrick Allitt. After completing his undergraduate work at Oxford University, he earned a Ph.D. in American History at UC, Berkeley in 1985. For the next three years, he was a Henry Luce Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard Divinity School. Since 1988, he has been a member of the History Department at Emory University, where he teaches courses on American Intellectual History, Religion in American Life, Environmental History, The American West, and America and Vietnam. He has published five books:

He currently is writing a book on the history of American conservatism from the American Revolution to 2001.

In addition, Professor Allitt will speak that evening at 8:00 P.M. in the University Theatre. His lecture is entitled “The Crisis of Education in America.
