About the Collaborative
Special THANK YOU to those who attended the 2019 Breastfeeding Learning Collaborative (BLC) that was on Tuesday, April 2nd at the Best Western GranTree Inn in Bozeman. As well as the exciting Networking/Demonstration/Vendor event (held that Monday evening prior to the conference).
Sponsored by the Montana Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and MT DPHHS, Nutrition and Physical Activity Program this premier conference on infant nutrition and lactation support provides the attendee with professional development opportunities, networking with other professionals and current clinical and practical lactation support knowledge.
This year this exciting and engaging conference focused on the life-long health impacts of breastfeeding, working with challenging breastfeeding situations, breastfeeding history and breastfeeding equity. The BLC featured two well-known speakers in their fields: Dr. Jacqueline Wolf, PhD and Catherine Sullivan, MPH RDN LDN IBCLC RLC FAND. Dr. Jacqueline Wolf is a Professor of the History of Medicine at Ohio University and a published author of several books and journal articles. Dr. Wolf presented on the history of wet nursing and human milk’s impact of health throughout a person’s life. Ms. Sullivan is currently the Director of the Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute and Asst. Professor at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and has published numerous journal articles. Ms. Sullivan presented on equity in breastfeeding and overcoming breastfeeding challenges.
Target audience included: physicians, nurse practitioners, lactation specialists, WIC clinic staff, public health professionals, hospital staff, health clinic staff, dietitians, nurses and other interested healthcare advocates.
