Personal Summary

Jessie McCafferty, LCPC, LAC, is a counselor and the Coordinator of The Behavioral Health Options Program. Jessie is passionate about helping students not only be successful academically but also achieve the goals they're striving for, however big or small, and ultimately work towards living their best life. Jessie understands that each individual student's needs is unique and therefore each counseling experience will be unique; she believes in meeting the student where they're at in order to move forward. She has experience working with traditional college-aged students as well as nontraditional students and helps to get students connected not just with counseling but other resources on and off campus. Overall, Jessie is a generalist but also specializes in working with substance use concerns, bereavement, depression, identity concerns and the anxiety that comes with the changes, often unexpected, that people can experience in their college career. Jessie's approach to counseling is Rogerian while incorporating techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative/Constructivist and Existential Theories. Jessie is also trained in Prolonged Exposure Therapy, EMDR Part I, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
