Other Funding Opportunities at UM for Humanities Research

Sponsored by the Office of Research and Creative Scholarship, the University Grant Program (UGP) is intended to foster innovative research and creative accomplishments.  Unless otherwise specified, funds may be requested by faculty in any area of research or creative work. Successful proposals may be funded at less than the amount requested. Applications are usually due in February. The UGP grants include:

  • Small Grants (up to $5,000)
  • Seed Grants (up to $15,000)
  • Mentored Proposal Development Grants (up to $8,000)
  • Global Research Incentive Program (GRIP) (up to $5,000)

The guidelines for the UGP are located on the Office of Research and Creative Scholarship's website.

Please note that recipients of the Humanities Institute's faculty research grants cannot simultaneously receive a grant from the University Grant Program.
